good to have you here

Hey everybody, welcome everybody

Hey everybody it’s good to have you here

We’re going to clap our hands, stomp our feet

Move to the rhythm of the guitar beat

We’re going to sing our song as the music plays

Welcome everybody, hip hip hooray - Hooray

We’re going to shake our leg, wink our eye,

Tip our hat to the morning sky

We’re going to sing our song as the music plays

Welcome everybody, hip hip hooray - Hooray

Hey there Sally. Clap your hands for Sally.

Hey there Sally. It's good to have you here.

Hey there Charlie. Clap your hands for Charlie.

Hey there Charlie. It's good to have you here.

Hey there Luke. Clap your hands for Luke.

Hey there Luke. It's good to have you here.

Hey there Owen. Clap your hands for Owen.

Hey there Owen. It's good to have you here.

We’re going to clap our hands, stomp our feet

Move to the rhythm of the guitar beat

We’re going to sing our song as the music plays

Welcome everybody, hip hip hooray - Hooray

We’re going to pat our heads and tap our knees

Wave our arms in the springtime breeze

We’re going to sing our song as the music plays

Welcome everybody, hip hip hooray - Hooray

Hey everybody, welcome everybody

Hey everybody it’s good to have you here

Good To Have you here- Behind the Scenes

When I first started teaching music at the Milldam Nursery School in the fall of 2005, I was welcomed by a team of creative and fun teachers. In each class we brainstormed ideas for songs and talked about the flow of a thirty minute class. Over the years I have built a repertoire of traditional songs, songs that I have learned from music teachers around the world, and songs that I have written myself.

The simple movements and easy to follow directions of this song makes it a great way to start a class - especially at the beginning of the year. It's also a great way to learn my students names. On the CD I use the names of my wife and three children. In the classroom I invite the children to clap for each of their teachers and then extend the song to include recognition for each child.
